Cross Curricular Skills

At Strangford Integrated College, we place a strong emphasis on the development of Cross-Curricular Skills, ensuring that students have opportunities to enhance their literacy, numeracy and ICT skills across all subject areas.

We have dedicated Coordinators for ICT, Literacy, and Numeracy who actively promote the value of these skills. They support departments in both the delivery and assessment of the CCS skills, and organise a range of engaging events to promote the importance of such skills. Recent events have included author visits, World Book Day, Pi Day, Internet Safety Week, Number Day and plenty of competitions both internally and externally. There is also a monthly literacy and numeracy focus helping students further hone important skills in these areas.

All students have an iPads to support their learning and our equipped with the skills to use various apps and programmes to support and deepening their learning and develop their ICT skills and other transferrable skills. By the end of Key Stage 3, every student demonstrates confidence in the use of ICT, Literacy, and Numeracy and attains an appropriate level of competence equipping them for further progress at GCSE and A Level.
